Do Podiatrists have enough training, both undergraduate and ongoing in our careers on footwear? If this study is to be believed (and it seems right in my experience) then footwear assessment and reccomendation could be one of the most valuable tools in the Podiarists skill set.
Podiatrists in New Zealand gain an understanding of footwear as undergraduates. This level of understanding will be similar in most Western countries this would be similar in undergraduate Podiarty courses. At Foot Mechanics we have developed our CME for footwear to ensure our Podiatrists are experts in footwear reccommendation. This includes athletic footwear, work footwork and fashion footwear. Our training is support by Asics, Adidas, New Balance and Kumfs. We also work in retail footwear store every week so our podiarists can actually experience cusomter reaction to the shoes in real life.
